An application for performance monitoring and supply chain management using business intelligence (BI) & analytics for one of the most iconic magazines
Client: Newsweek is the second-largest news weekly magazine in the U.S with a weekly circulation of over 1.6M. Newsweek provides in-depth analysis, news, and opinion about international issues, technology, business, culture, and politics.
Challenge: Newsweek approached Strategic Systems International (SSI) seeking a technology enhancement to monitor their paper purchase. SSI designed, developed and implemented a comprehensive paper procurement, inventory management, and printer performance monitoring solution for all paper purchased by Newsweek Magazine.
Solution: The solution incorporated key processes within its supply chain including forecasting, procurement & tracking, inventory management, waste contract management, and business intelligence (BI) & analytics. The application also integrated information from all of Newsweek’s supply chain partners into a single database for transactional and analytical purposes. In addition to building a robust solution with multiple modules, SSI leveraged its experience in Data Analytics to incorporate business intelligence across Newsweek’s supply chain.
Result: With the help of SSI’s performance monitoring applications Newsweek was able to reduce its inventory by 4M lbs while improved its cash flow by $1.5M+ due to immediate savings.
