Client: PSI Services LLC (PSI) is an industry-leading professional testing service offering end-to-end solutions from test development to results processing. Its services include pre-hire selection, administrative assessments, licensing, certification tests, distance learning testing, and license management. PSI supports a diverse clientele, including major corporations, government agencies, professional associations, certifying bodies, and academic institutions.
Challenge: PSI sought to develop two major platforms:
- Next Gen Remote Proctoring (NGRP): An online proctoring platform for administering unproctored exams in a secure, proctored environment.
- Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI): A standard for integrating learning applications with platforms like learning management systems (LMS), portals, and educational environments, whether cloud-based or local.
PSI sought a technology partner to drive the ideation process and deliver front-end development services for both projects. The client engaged Strategic Systems International (SSI) for its proven expertise and innovative solutions.
Key challenges included ensuring academic integrity, security, quality assurance, and enhancing features. The goal was to create high-fidelity mockups and design recommendations to improve user experience through a user-centered design approach.

Next Gen Remote Proctoring (NGRP): Built on a flexible cloud model, NGRP offers two main proctoring views:
- Live View: Provides real-time monitoring by PSI’s remote certified proctors, who can oversee multiple exams, interact with candidates, view shared screens, and monitor through webcams.
- Recorded View: Captures and records entire exam sessions for post-exam review by PSI’s certified proctors.
Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI): Designed to integrate seamlessly with LMS platforms, allowing students to schedule exams and instructors to manage exams efficiently once proctoring is completed.
Result: The front-end solutions developed by SSI have greatly improved user experience and operational efficiency. The platforms have received positive feedback for their intuitive and modern interfaces, effectively addressing key challenges in academic integrity and security while enhancing overall functionality.
