Client: Orthodontic Cloud Solutions provides industry-leading orthodontic software technology solutions, products, and services via the cloud. The specialized features of the browser-based practice management system help improve staff productivity, increase user efficiency, and minimize workflow stages.

Challenge: As a leader in the industry, Orthodontic Cloud Solutions wanted to expand its market footprint by adding mobile applications for its users. The client required a cross-platform application, requested an architectural review of the existing implementation, and proposed changes to support the mobile application that leveraged the already implemented backend in .NET MVC.

Solution: SSI reviewed the existing architecture and implemented the following backend upgrades to support the mobile application:

  • Introduced the new shared library to reuse the data models without creating dependencies between the front and back ends.
  • Added a new API layer for mobile referencing the existing backend via shared data models.

SSI designed the mobile application mockups explaining the detailed UI/UX, which the client reviewed and approved. The mobile application was developed in react native as it is the latest, most robust, and fast-growing mobile application language that supports both Android and iOS platforms. The common features in mobile applications included the following:

  • Tenant and rights-based application access.
  • Configurable schedule view for practices.
  • Patient dashboard for historical details about the treatment.
  • Images gallery for x-rays and supporting pictures of the patient’s symptoms.

Result: The intuitive design and easy-to-use interface of the application make it a breeze for dental practitioners to stay up to date with their practice schedules. The app’s powerful features give Orthodontics Cloud Solutions an edge over its competitors.
