Client: Investment Solution Provider develops investment software solutions, portfolio management, and record-keeping for investors and trading practitioners. The company offers centralized portfolio management tools for stocks, bonds, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, options, cash, and more.
Challenge: The client used an Investment Account Manager application with features facilitating investment and portfolio management. The app has been operating for the last 25 years, used by several individuals and investment firms. However, the technology became obsolete and did not cater to the enhancements and theming required for human-computer interaction. The back end of the application needed an upgrade in terms of space and capacity to incorporate large sets of financial data, complicated database schemas, extensive SQL queries, and carefully managed data pipelines for a reliable and well-structured dataset for analytics.
The front end had design challenges, a complex interface, and outdated architecture. The client sought a tech partner to revamp its system using the latest tools and technologies. The user interface required upgrading and re-engineering using modern technologies and improving the back-end financial data handling with innovative technology solutions.
Solution: SSI’s team of software development professionals made the following enhancements to the platform:
- Developed the rewritten version of the system that would comply with the needs fulfilled by the existing systems; this technology caters to the changes in the system and the cosmetic and interaction design side.
- An efficient and fast complete reporting module using the latest tools with additional features.
- We redesigned and developed the application using the latest .Net 5.0 framework, enabling it to take advantage of all upcoming .Net Core upgrades.
- The database side was shifted from a flat file structure to an SQL server relational database, incorporating tools for better data management and query.
- The Identity and Access Management (IAM) included a large set of reports; the team used the DevExpress reporting library to convert these reports using modern design and data sets linked to SQL data. A key consideration of the new IAM is the separation of layers in the architecture that initially helps build the system for desktop and provides means to extend for web and mobile in the future.
- The team also incorporated the all-new user interface for the IAM dashboard, transaction ledger screen, grids, and customized color theming for the whole application, making it visually appealing.
Result: Investment Solution Provider increased its client base using modern solutions and updated UI. The upgraded application successfully delivered client demos that helped the company grow and reach new users.
