Client: DM-EDV, a key player in Germany, delivers specialized information systems that cater to the needs of both inpatient and outpatient healthcare facilities. Their flexible, scalable solutions manage critical functions like billing, resource utilization, care planning, and documentation. With a global footprint, DM-EDV serves over 1,900 clients worldwide.
Challenge: The client approached SSI for a technology assessment as they prepared to modernize a legacy solution addressing inpatient and outpatient management needs, including patient data, accounting, planning, and administration. With plans to migrate this solution to more advanced tools and technologies, DM-EDV sought technology recommendations and training for their IT staff. SSI conducted a comprehensive technology assessment workshop, offering guidance on the most suitable technologies. SSI also provided technology training sessions for the DM-EDV and developed the foundational framework for the new application. A few months after the workshop, DM-EDV returned to SSI, seeking collaboration on developing the new application and additional projects.
Solution: After conducting a detailed technology assessment and training workshop, SSI collaborated closely with DM-EDV to co-develop innovative software solutions for inpatient and outpatient care management. The new solutions included:
- Inpatient Care (DM-HPV): Modules for administration, human resource planning, SEPA settlement, rostering, care planning, mobile data entry, accounting, asset management, and controlling.
- Outpatient Care (DM-DOKU7): Modules for management and master data, regulation management, scheduling, time recording, nursing documentation, digital wound documentation, and more.
SSI utilized Microsoft’s Windows Presentation Framework and Microsoft Prism—then cutting-edge technologies for desktop application development—to build a robust, user-friendly application framework. SSI also provided ongoing technology training, ensuring that DM-EDV’s staff remained proficient in the latest tools. This collaborative relationship continues as SSI supports DM-EDV in migrating its expansive application suite to the new platform.
Result: The modernization project was a resounding success. DM-EDV transitioned its extensive client base to the new application, earning strong customer approval and expanding its market presence. The company’s participation in various healthcare conferences has garnered significant recognition for its technological advancements, further solidifying its industry leadership.
