Streamlined Hedge Fund Migration

Client: The Gemini Companies (now Ultimus Fund Solutions) provide pooled investment services for independent advisors and the investment community, offering a comprehensive suite of services across mutual funds, hedge funds, exchange-traded funds, and other pooled investment products, as well as distribution services.

Challenge: Gemini Hedge, a web-based application offering end-to-end fund administration for hedge fund products, was initially built in Scala with PostgreSQL. The client sought to migrate the backend to ASP.NET to enhance performance, streamline maintenance, and align with Microsoft-based technologies.

Solution: SSI began with a detailed technology evaluation to guide the transition to Microsoft technologies. SSI’s engineering team partnered with Gemini’s experts to analyze and adapt the core business logic from the original application to ensure all existing functionalities were precisely retained. By implementing ASP.NET and SQL Server 2014, the team achieved a smooth and reliable migration without disrupting key financial functionalities.

Result: The migration provided a seamless transition for Gemini, with all features and functionalities preserved as intended. The Gemini Hedge application is now live, serving a growing user base, and SSI continues to support the client with ongoing application enhancements.
