Client: TecRMI, headquartered in Weikersheim, Germany, is a leading information specialist serving independent market participants in the European automotive, spare parts, and vehicle repair industries. With a comprehensive database covering technical details on approximately 235 million of the 250 million vehicles registered in Europe, TecRMI provides solutions to automotive manufacturers, equipment traders, insurance companies, leasing firms, wholesalers, and garages across 19 countries. The company ensures data accuracy and consistency through regular updates and restructuring.
Challenge: TecRMI sought to develop TecRMI CAR, a web-based application to assist technicians in vehicle repair and maintenance. The application aimed to provide detailed information on vehicle parts, wiring diagrams, repair data, maintenance schedules, and technical manuals. It also required customizable modules and an intuitive graphical interface for seamless access to specific vehicle data. The client needed the portal within three to four months to showcase it at a major European automotive show. TecRMI partnered with SSI due to our established reputation for delivering complex projects within the required timelines.
Solution: SSI designed and developed TecRMI CAR using MS.NET web technologies, focusing on a modular architecture and a user-friendly graphical interface. The application enabled users to access detailed, manufacturer-specific vehicle information by simply selecting components via a graphical representation of the vehicle. Key modules include TecADJUST for technical data, TecTIMES for scheduled work times, TecMAINTENANCE for maintenance schedules, and TecMANUALS for repair instructions. The system also integrated features like recall and service information to support automotive technicians.
Result: SSI successfully delivered the solution within the required timeline and budget, meeting TecRMI’s objectives for the automotive show. The graphic selection component received positive feedback, significantly enhancing the user experience. Early adoption exceeded expectations, with numerous customers signing up after the initial release.
