Minnesota-Based AgTech Startup

Client: A Minnesota-based AI startup working on an IoT project in agriculture. The company provides farmers with forecasts on plant health and potential diseases likely to impact in the near future for more informed decision-making.

Challenge: The client sought an expert team proficient in cloud services to develop a scalable solution with hands-on experience in the IoT domain. The primary focus was gathering crucial real-time data from agricultural robots, including high-resolution imagery. These models had to promptly generate actionable forecasts and disease warnings, enabling farmers to take proactive measures to protect their crops.

Solution: Strategic Systems International’s (SSI) engineers delivered a scalable web application to collect telemetric data from robots, including imagery. AI models will use the captured data in the future for forecasting useful insights for farmers. The app offers intuitive dashboards displaying essential KPIs and enables remote robot command execution. The solution empowers farmers with real-time insights to optimize resources, protect crops, and enhance yields sustainably. This approach aligns with eco-friendly practices, benefiting farmers and the environment.

Result: SSI successfully delivered and deployed the MVP on two customer sites, gaining traction and attracting new customers. One of their prominent clients, the University of Minnesota, is using this product for research experiments. Our client continues to partner with us, working on enhancements and new features to revolutionize agriculture using AI and IoT.
